This sculpture depicts many cast bronze tiles--each with a distinct personality. Arranged on wooden planks in an order reminiscent of a family tree.
As I created each tile, I thought of people I have known and characteristics each person demonstrates in their ways of being.
Interestingly, as I cast each piece, some of them came out less than perfect. I decided that this was no accident and used the pieces as they were originally cast. Just as each human has his or her own qualities, so each tile is unique.
