This is Solar Hope (daytime view). Created from welded steel with glass construction blocks, it is lit from within by solar powered LED lights. Standing nearly 10 feet tall, it currently exists in two similar versions. One is on location with the Riverdale Park Public Art Exhibit in Riverdale Park, MD. The other (pictured here) resides at Clarksville Commons Shopping Center in Clarksville, MD.
I came up with the initial concept seven years ago. Once I decided to make the sculpture solar powered instead of standard electricity, it really came to life.
